You groaned lightly as you sat up in your bed. Your head ached and your eyes were puffy and red. You felt hot and cold all at the same time, and your body ached at every move. You let out a soft puff of breath as you cast your weary eyes towards your alarm clock on your bedside table. It had been a little after four in the morning; groaning you collapsed back into your soft bed, kicking all of the blankets off of you and listening as they thudded softly to the ground.

Maybe, just maybe you would be able to go back to sleep.

At school the next day, Gokudera had been waiting, like most days, by the front doors. A small package had been clasped tightly within his hands. He shifted from one foot to the next, growing impatient as every moment passed. You hadn’t been one to run late, and he grew worried with every passing second. Sighing in defeat, he finally submitted and went to his locker, placing the gift inside and walking to class. It wasn’t until after fifth period that he began to truly worry. He figured you may have just been running late this morning, but when you didn’t show up at all; well lets just say that had been very uncharacteristic of you. After school, Gokudera decided that he was going to go to your house. Playing hooky was unacceptable, and being your best friend he would have known if something was wrong. So begrudgingly, he shoved the package within his pocket and began the longish treck to your apartment. Once he reached your door, he ran his lithe fingers through his silver-ish white locks, letting out a deep sigh.

Balling up his fist, he reached out and rapped on the door, causing a dull thud to echo through your house. After a few minutes, when you hadn’t answered, he tried again.

“(Name)?” He called out, a bit of skepticism in his voice. When you hadn’t answered, yet again, he let out a deep sigh. Chancing it, he decided to try the door knob. The door had been unlocked. A serge of panic raced through his chest as he threw the door open, shutting it quickly behind him. His weary green eyes scanned your small one bedroom apartment as he made his way through, taking note that everything had seemed normal. He paused for a moment as he stopped in front of your closed bedroom door. His breath came in short puffs, and his heart felt like it may have burst through his chest at any moment. He really had no clue as to what may or may not have been waiting on the other side of that door. And that thought sickened him. But with a deep breath and a long sigh there after, he quietly opened your bedroom door. The door squeaked open slowly, drawing a groan from your lips as the light from your hallway crept in, lighting up your rosy face. You put your arm up to shield your face from the light.

"Are you death?" your voice came out only a whisper. "If so, could you please release me from my misery?" It took awhile for your eyes to adjust to the sudden light, but once they did, you sighed and rolled over- facing away from the silver haired man at the door.
"Oh..it's only you, Gokudera."

"I was worried about you." Gokudera grunted while he moved into bedroom, and took a seat on the edge of your bed. "It's unlike you to miss school."

"I've been trying to get out of bed all day..." You answered him hoping your voice would last until he went home.

"School is over, ya know. You missed a meltdown or two and the crazy fan-girls."

"Ugh, don't remind me. They would kill me if they knew you were over here."

"Not before I kill them first... You sound horrible so I'll make you soup. It's a recipe I learned back home."His words did not register until your heard food. Despite your weariness hunger was still very present.

"What? You, cook for me? Will I be poisoned?" You gave him a skeptical look watching him turn red.

"No...you won't be poisoned...keep it up and I will lace your water bottle with something." He walked over and playfully gave your head a hit. He noticed the heat emanating from you and kissed your forehead. You blushed madly. Was he making a move on you in your very weak state. He removed his lips and for the second time today he had a worried look on his face.

"You have a fever too? Why didn't you call me!?"

"I didn't want to worry you...besides I'll be fine tomorrow."

"No way, you're not leaving until you're better."

"The class party is tomorrow! I HAVE to be there." Gokudera gave you a look that made you feel stupid for wanting something so trivial.

"I'll bring you cake form the party. Now, rest. I'll bring you soup in a little while." He turned to leave your room until your voice called him back

"Thanks, Gokudera. You're the best." You notice his face turn a cute shade of red.

"That's the fever talking. Just rest." He closed your door and left your apartment. You drifted off into a peaceful slumber. The wonderful smell of food invaded your nostrils forcing your eyes open. You hear your stomach complain of the absence of food but, it did not have to wait long. Gokudera gave your door a knock and he walked in holding a tray of food and medicines.

"You're awake now? I tried to wake you up earlier but it was a lost cause."

"Sorry, when I sleep it's like I'm dead. I must have been really tired."

You didn't care what you looked like right now. All you wanted was food and possibly a card game or two. The soup looked surprisingly good to be made by your friend. You finally tried it and it was delicious.

"Gokudera, this is really good! I can't believe you actually made this!"He gave you another looks and playful punch.

"This is mimadre's recipe. She made this whenever I was sick and it made me better."

"I'm happy you learned to make this. I'm feeling better already, thank you." The two of you ate and talked.

Gokudera made sure you took your medicine before he grabbed your deck of cards and began to play. Sadly, he beat you in every game you knew how to play. It wasn't long until you felt tiredness take over again. You tried to stay awake but Gokudera noticed and began the clean up so he could put you to bed.

"No, it's ok! I can clean this up in the morning!" You began to cough while your body protested any strenuous movement by aching.

"Get back in bed! I can take care of this. Stop making yourself worse." You heard him curse as he left the room. Gokudera came back shortly with a glass of cold water and cold towel. He tucked you in and placed the towel on your head. You smiled wearily at him giving him a silent thank you. He looked down at your peaceful form and blushed. He remembered the gift in his pocket but you were already asleep. He sat the box by your glass of water hoping you will like his present. He left your bedroom but not your apartment. He wanted to stay close for you, to nurse you back to health. Maybe, one day you'll see him more than just a friend...
